Based on existing studies on tents and sutra cabinets as well as on the revolving sutra cabinet in Longxingsi, Zhengding, this paper discusses the probable original form of the revolving sutra cabinet in Longxingsi. Combining traces in the current status of this sutra cabinet and the hall in which it stands with rules in Yingzao Fashi (Building Standards), clues in related examples, historical images and other written records in history, it discusses the probability of setting the heavenly palace and pavilions (tiangong louge) instead of the current roof on the revolving sutra cabinet in Longxingsi when it was originally constructed. The paper raises that the current status and restorations in the history of this revolving sutra cabinet and its hall, as well as the prevailing Song-dynasty appearance of a revolving sutra cabinet and its meaning agree with the possibility of having the heavenly palace and pavilions.Moreover, the clues support the possibility that the revolving sutra cabinet was originally constructed in the partly rotatable style.
